How Each Name Is Built
- NFT collection: a mood and a creature or thing, like Sleepy Moths, or a thing and a group, like The Lantern Society. Every word was read by hand.
- Crypto project: a plain word from nature or building with the kind of project after it (Chain, DAO, Finance, Labs, Network or Protocol), like Larch Protocol. No word opens the name of one of the 1,000 largest coins, and a batch has no kind more than twice.
- Ticker: three to five capital letters read from the project's word: the word itself when it is that short (KEEL), else its first letter and consonants (GRNT for Granite), then its first letters. A ticker is skipped when one of the 958 tickers of the 1,000 largest coins by market cap uses it, as listed by CoinGecko on October 20, 2026, or when it is a currency code, an interest-rate benchmark or a company form, such as USD, SOFR or LLC.
- Famous names: no name equals, or contains as words, a well-known NFT collection (Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Pudgy Penguins and others on our list) or the name of one of those 1,000 coins. Every name the rules can make also passes the screens every Nameryn generator uses for offensive words, profanity, brands and famous names.
- One batch, no repeats: a batch never uses the same word twice (a creature and its plural count as one), and a name you have already seen is shown again only when no new one fits the batch.

FAQ
How do I name an NFT collection?
Pick a name that says what the pieces have in common and sounds like a set: a mood and a creature (Sleepy Moths) or a group (The Lantern Society). Choose NFT collection above, save the ones you like, then search them on the marketplace you plan to use before you mint.
How do I pick a ticker for a token?
Most tickers are three to five capital letters read from the name, like GRNT for Granite. Choose Token and ticker above: each ticker comes from its project name and is never one used by the 1,000 largest coins on our dated list, a currency code like USD or a company form like LLC.
Is the ticker free to use?
It is not used by any of the major coins on our list, but tickers are not registered anywhere and small tokens reuse them all the time. Stock exchanges use letter tickers too, so one may also belong to a listed company. Search the ticker and the name on CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap and the exchanges you care about before you launch.
Can I use these names?
Yes, they are free. A name here is not a trademark search, so check it before you put money or a community behind it.
Is the name I save sent anywhere?
No. The names are made in your browser from lists that load with the page, and favorites stay in your browser.
