What data is collected

There is no account or login. Generation runs in your browser, and generated ideas and saved favorites stay on your device unless you explicitly use an optional availability check. Nameryn uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to receive anonymous, aggregate pageview and performance information. It does not receive generated names, prompts, saved ideas, or a cross-site advertising profile.

The Idea Library and localStorage

When you save an idea to the Library, that information is saved to your browser's localStorage under the key funny_idea_log. This storage is:

  • Stored on your device only — nothing is uploaded to any server.
  • Never shared between browsers or devices.
  • Readable and clearable by you at any time from the Idea Library drawer (Clear library button), or by clearing your browser's site data.
  • Not tied to any account or identity.

Cookies

Nameryn does not use cookies for accounts, advertising, saved ideas, or analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured as a cookieless service.

The Idea Library uses localStorage — not cookies — to store your favorites on-device only. localStorage is never transmitted with HTTP requests.

Analytics

Nameryn loads Cloudflare Web Analytics to count pageviews and measure basic browser performance. The beacon sends aggregate technical information to Cloudflare, such as the page visited, referrer, browser and device type, and timing metrics. It does not receive the names or prompts you generate, the contents of your Idea Library, or a persistent cross-site advertising identifier.

Third-party services

Normal pages load Cloudflare's analytics script from static.cloudflareinsights.com. Generator logic, fonts, images, and saved ideas are served or stored locally by Nameryn. If you press an availability-check control, your browser sends only the selected name to MusicBrainz or the public .com RDAP service. Those checks are optional and do not run automatically.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Because there is no account system, no notification can be sent — check this page if you want to stay current.
