How to Name a Team of AI Agents

Once a project runs more than one agent, names stop being decoration. They show up in logs, dashboards, handoffs and chat, and a person has to tell at a glance which agent did what. This guide covers how to give a team names that belong together and still stay apart.

Pick one family

A team reads as a team when its names share something. Four families work well:

  • One brand prefix, a different role word for each agent: KoraScout, KoraDesk, KoraMentor. Best when the agents are one product.
  • One opening sound: Doti, Daveni, Deto. Distinct names that clearly belong together.
  • One rhyme: Terelo, Bakelo, Tasalo. Playful; the shared ending carries the set.
  • One root with different endings: Zephora, Zephyn, Zephis. Good for agents behind one voice.

Give each agent a role title

In a fleet, the job matters as much as the name. Pair each name with a role title in the order work moves through the team, from intake to the last check, so a log line such as "KoraDesk, Triage Agent, passed the ticket to KoraScout, Router" explains itself.

Keep them apart when spoken

A family shares something; the members must not share too much. Names that differ by one letter, or that a speech system could confuse, cause handoff mistakes. Read the set aloud, and drop any two names that sound alike.

Write the set down once

Keep the names and roles in one config file and generate everything else from it: prompts, dashboards, documentation. The AI agent team name generator copies a set as JSON, an array of names and roles ready for that file.
