    Username Rules by Platform

Pick a platform above and every name it gives you fits that platform's length and characters: spaces and symbols come out, TikTok names are lower case, and anything still too long is left out rather than cut. Nameryn cannot tell you whether a name is free. None of these platforms has a public check that works without signing in, so the last column links the place where you type the name and the platform answers (Steam profile names need not be unique, so there it is yours to use).

    PlatformRuleSourceWhere to check it
Roblox 3 to 20 characters; letters and numbers; at most one underscore, never first or last. Roblox Support, read Sign up, or Settings › Account Info › Username
TikTok 2 to 24 characters; letters, numbers, underscores and periods; no period at the end. Changeable once every 30 days. TikTok Support, read In the app: Profile › Edit profile › Username
Fortnite Epic display name, 3 to 16 characters, nothing vulgar and no Epic products or characters. Epic Games Support, read Epic account › Account settings › Display name
Twitch 4 to 25 characters. Changeable once every 60 days; an old name stays out of reach for at least 180 days. Twitch Help (length) and its username policy (60 and 180 days), read Settings › Profile › Username
Minecraft Java Edition profile names up to 16 characters, changeable once every 30 days; Bedrock uses your Xbox gamertag instead. Names here also keep to letters, numbers and one underscore. Minecraft Help, read minecraft.net › Change Profile Name
Steam Names here keep to 3 to 16 letters and numbers with at most one underscore. A Steam profile name does not have to be unique, so there is nothing to check. We found no rule published on Valve's own pages. Steam › Edit profile › Profile name

How to Use This Username Generator

    1. Choose a Platform if the name is for Roblox, TikTok, Minecraft, Fortnite, Twitch or Steam; Any platform leaves the length and characters to you.
    2. Choose a Mood & Style — Bold for confident gaming handles, Playful for lighthearted combos, Dark for brooding names.
    3. Toggle Numbers for a curated suffix (1–3 digits) when your first-choice handle is taken — or type your own number (birth year, lucky number) in the number field.
    4. Toggle Symbols for platform-safe decoration — leetspeak letter-swaps and an underscore at the word boundary: Br3ak_Wolf.
    5. Press Generate usernames to get a fresh batch of 8. Repeat as many times as you like.
    6. Press Copy to grab a handle, or ⭐ Favorite to save a shortlist in your browser.

    What Makes a Good Username?

The best usernames are easy to say out loud, easy to type on a mobile keyboard, and memorable enough to stick. CamelCase handles like PhantomEagle are readable without spaces on any platform. Shorter handles — under ten characters — are easier to @-mention and fit tight display limits on competitive games. If the name you want is taken, a single number suffix or underscore is usually enough to make it unique without making it forgettable.

Avoid usernames that look like random strings of letters and numbers — they are hard to remember and hard to search for. A two-word CamelCase handle that hints at your playstyle or personality will serve you far better than x94kf2play ever will.

    FAQ

How long can a Roblox username be?

Roblox says 3 to 20 characters, letters and numbers only, with at most one underscore and never at the start or end. Pick Roblox under Platform and every name here keeps to that.

What characters can a TikTok username have?

Letters, numbers, underscores and periods, 2 to 24 characters, and it cannot end with a period, according to TikTok's help page. TikTok also lets you change it once every 30 days.

Can this check if a Roblox, Twitch or Minecraft name is taken?

No. None of these platforms offers a public check that works without signing in, so Nameryn cannot ask them. The table above links the page on each platform where you type the name and it tells you.

Are these usernames available to use?

They are creative suggestions only. This generator does not check availability on any platform — not PSN, Xbox, Steam, Discord, Twitch, or anywhere else. Always search for a username on the platform you intend to use before claiming it.

What does the Mood & Style setting do?

It filters Nameryn's tagged username word pool to a mood and style combination. Bold draws from energetic, handle-flavored words (ToxicKnight, LeapTitan). Playful draws from lighthearted, game-flavored words (FriendlyBoss, BrightHero). Dark draws from grim, intense words (CrookedViper, BloodlessBlade).

What do the Numbers and Symbols toggles do?

Numbers appends a suffix for when your first-choice handle is taken — a curated number of 1 to 3 digits by default, or type your own (a birth year or lucky number, up to 4 digits) in the number field. Symbols adds platform-safe decoration: leetspeak letter-swaps (LeapTitan becomes L3ap_Titan) plus an underscore at the word boundary. It stays within letters, numbers, and underscores, so it works across Discord, Twitch, Steam, Xbox, and PSN.

Can I use these usernames for gaming, streaming, or social media?

Yes. The handles are designed for gaming platforms, streaming accounts, and social profiles. The Dark filter works well for longer display names; toggle Symbols for platforms that don't render CamelCase clearly (it adds an underscore at the word boundary plus optional leetspeak). Always verify the name is free on your target platform before committing.

How long can a username be?

It depends entirely on the platform — Twitch and Discord allow up to 25-32 characters, Xbox gamertags are capped around 15, and X (Twitter) caps at 15. This generator doesn't enforce a length limit, so if you're targeting a specific platform, count your final pick against that platform's own limit before you commit to it, especially if you plan to add numbers or an underscore.

Should I use the same username on every platform?

It's worth trying, purely for discoverability — friends searching for you across Discord, Twitch, Steam, and X will find you faster with one consistent handle. The tradeoff is that a distinctive invented handle (rather than your real name) is easier to keep consistent, since real-name variations are frequently already taken on at least one major platform. If your first choice is unavailable somewhere, the Numbers toggle gives you a same-name fallback rather than a totally different handle.

    Are my favorites saved anywhere?

Favorites are stored in your browser using localStorage, on this device only. Nothing is uploaded to a server and no account is required. Find your saved handles in the Idea Library from any page.
